Products - Overview

Moldex 3D  :  Moldex3D Solid  :  Features

Moldex3D

is Plastics Flow Analysis Software capable of simulating the filling, packing, and cooling and warping processes of injection molded plastic parts. Its capabilities include standard thermoplastic injection molding, thermoset injection molding, gas assisted injection molding, insert molding dual shot and multiple component. In addition, it helps to precisely predict distribution variables (including the flow, temperature, pressure, shear stress, and volumetric shrinkage) during the entire product cycle. The time-history curves of variables such as sprue pressure variation and clamping force, the possible locations of welding lines and air traps are also predictable with the Moldex3D application. Moldex3D is used for evaluating the efficiency of cooling system and estimating the shrinkage and warpage issues for products before the tool is built.

Moldex3D Solid

Moldex3D Solid, is three-dimensional flow analysis software utilizing the pioneering FVM (Finite Volume Method) technology. The FVM technology can provide the capability of analyzing the real conditions that can't be solved by STL (Dual Domain) and/or Midplane (Shell Element) analysis. Speedy and accurate calculation, an easy to use operation interface and the latest 3-D technology that is able to display the analysis result realistically. All these functions are designed to facilitate learning and operating. Moldex3D supports Flow/ Pack/ Cool/ Warp/ Fiber analysis in both shell and solid modules.

Features of Moldex3D

1. Pioneering FVM Technology

Moldex3D
has adopted the newly developed FVM technology to provide real three-dimensional flow analysis. This provides real output conditions such as inertia effect, non-isothermal flow, viscous heating etc. In addition, it excels in its speedy and accurate calculation ability. This allows the analysis results to emulate actual molding conditions and economizes working hours. Below is a chart of the working hours for analyzing modules with different elements in Moldex3D-Flow.

CPU Time for Moldex3D-Flow Platform: Pentium IV 2.8GHz PC with 2 GB SDRAM
No. of Element CPU Time Memory Required
3,312 30 sec 8 MB
17,284 3 min 26 MB
122,662 34 min 184 MB
475,100 5.1 hr 660 MB

2. Easy to use Operation Interface

Moldex3D offers an easy to use interface to help users learn and operate more freely and easily. All operations of Moldex3D can be performed directly using the icons on the window. With this design, it is easy to choose the plastic materials and injection machine process setting for the analysis. Moldex3D makes the analysis results clearer for viewing and the generation procedure of the report simpler.

3. Project Management

Moldex3D provides an easy-to-use project management tools. Users can perform a variety of runs with different Part Files, Material Files, and Process Files. The users can run a single analysis or choose a batch run. The users can easily evaluate the quality of the part with different process, designs and materials.
